How we do the maths?
The Percentage Change Tool Formula
The Percentage increase and decrease are calculated by calculating the difference between the two values and comparing that difference to the initial set value.
This involves using the absolute value of the difference between two values and dividing the result by the initial value, this essentially calculates by how much the initial value has changed.
The percentage increase tool calculates the increase or decrease of a specific percentage of the initial input number. It involves converting a percentage into its decimal equivalent, and either subtracting (decrease) or adding (increase) the decimal equivalent from and to 1, respectively. Then multiplying the original number by this value will result in either an increase or decrease of the number by the given percentage.
Percentage Difference Tool Formula
The percentage difference between the two values is calculated by dividing the value of the difference between the two numbers by the average of the two numbers. Multiplying the result by 100 will yield the solution in percentage, rather than decimal form.
